'Fifteen Typefaces That Changed the World' is an editorial project which explores fifteen historically and culturally significant typefaces, analysing their design, context, and impact on visual communication.
Process
I began by narrowing down a set of fifteen typefaces from an initial forty, spanning early printing to contemporary digital design. I then developed a typographic system in order to create both a cohesive and expressive type specimen, showcasing the voice of each typeface.
Forma DJR Specimen
For the fifteenth typeface, I identified Forma DJR, a contemporary revival released within the last decade. To showcase it, I created a dedicated specimen in the form of a Typographic Standards & Protocols handbook.
Leaning into an orderly, office-like aesthetic, the specimen played with grids, charts, forms, and 'official' layouts, all designed to spotlight Forma DJR’s clean geometry and authoritative tone.
These expressive applications demonstrated not only the typeface’s versatility but also its ability to carry a distinct cultural voice, bridging modern corporate language with typographic history.
